Returns & Refunds Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

1. Two layers of protection

GolfFlip gives buyers two separate layers of protection: GolfFlip's own Buyer Protection (built into every card payment, described below), and, only for purchases from a verified Pro Account (trader) seller, the statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Which one applies, and when, depends on whether you bought from a private seller or a Pro Account. We tell you which kind of seller you're buying from before you check out.

2. Buyer Protection, applies to every card payment

Whenever you pay through GolfFlip (rather than arranging cash off-platform), your payment is held securely until you confirm you're happy, either by confirming receipt of a delivered item, or by handing the seller your 4-digit code once you've collected and checked an item in person, they enter it to release your payment to them. Only ever share that code face-to-face once you actually have the item, entering it releases payment immediately and can't be undone. If the item doesn't arrive, arrives damaged, or isn't as described, raise a dispute from your order page instead of confirming receipt, GolfFlip will review the evidence and can refund you instead of releasing funds to the seller. If a collection handover didn't happen the way it should have, you can still raise a dispute for up to 48 hours after the code was entered. This protection is a GolfFlip contractual guarantee, separate from, and in addition to, any statutory rights you have.

3. Buying from a private seller

Most sellers on GolfFlip are private individuals selling their own gear. Private, peer-to-peer sales aren't covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations' 14-day "no reason needed" cancellation right, that right is specific to business sellers. If a privately-sold item is faulty, significantly not as described, or doesn't arrive, GolfFlip's Buyer Protection (section 2) is what covers you: raise a dispute rather than confirming receipt.

4. Buying from a Pro Account (trader) seller

Where a seller has a verified Pro Account, shown as a trader badge on their listings and disclosed to you before checkout, you're buying from a business, and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply in full. You have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, no explanation needed, and a further 14 days to return the item once you've told the seller you're cancelling. You're entitled to a full refund of the item price, though you may need to cover return postage unless the seller says otherwise. This is on top of, not instead of, GolfFlip's Buyer Protection. Pro Account sales are additionally governed by our Business Seller Agreement.

5. Items that arrive damaged or not as described

Whether you bought from a private seller or a Pro Account, an item that arrives significantly different from its listing, or damaged in transit, can be disputed for a refund under Buyer Protection (section 2), you don't need to rely on the 14-day right for this. Raise a dispute from your order page as soon as possible, with photos if you have them. Where a courier's own tracking shows an item as delivered, GolfFlip treats that as confirmation of delivery unless there's clear evidence otherwise, if you believe it wasn't actually delivered despite tracking saying so, explain that in your dispute.

6. If a seller doesn't ship or show up

If a seller doesn't ship a delivery order, or doesn't complete an in-person collection handover, within their deadline, GolfFlip automatically refunds the buyer in full once that deadline passes, you don't need to do anything. If there's already an open dispute on the order, automatic refunding is paused while GolfFlip reviews it instead.

7. Confirm receipt promptly, this also protects the seller

The same automatic mechanism runs the other way too. For a delivery sale, once the order is marked shipped you have a set window to check the item and confirm receipt (or raise a dispute if something's wrong). If you don't do either within that window, GolfFlip releases payment to the seller automatically, the seller shouldn't be left waiting indefinitely on a buyer who's gone quiet, in the same way section 6 stops you being left waiting on an unresponsive seller. If there's a genuine problem with the item, raise a dispute before the window closes rather than letting it lapse.

8. How refunds are paid

Refunds are issued back to the card or payment method you used to pay, via Stripe. They typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card provider, GolfFlip issues the refund immediately on our side, but can't control how quickly your bank processes it.

9. Off-platform payments aren't covered

If you arrange to pay a seller directly, for example, cash on collection, outside GolfFlip's checkout, that transaction isn't covered by Buyer Protection or this policy, since GolfFlip has no payment to hold or refund. We recommend always paying through GolfFlip's checkout for cover.

10. How to request a refund

From your order page, either raise a dispute (if the item's arrived and something's wrong) or wait for the automatic refund if the seller has missed their deadline. If you need help, contact support@golfflip.co.uk.
